History and context
The shrines were built, restored and rebuilt in successive waves, especially from the 11th century. The site is associated with the first tīrtha
Why is this place spiritual?
The ascent of thousands of steps represents an act of devotion and discipline. The mountain is considered a place of liberation and memory of the masters. The principle of d'ahi的sā strongly influences the dietary and behavioral rules.
What the landscape makes you feel
The climb often starts before dawn to avoid heat. At the top, the accumulation of arrows, courtyards and sculptures creates a white temple city, but no night stay is traditionally allowed in the sacred enclosure.
Energy, atmosphere and feelings
Fatigue, altitude and arrival in a very orderly space produce a sense of transformation. The Jain language of merit, purification and liberation is more precise than the general notion of energy.
