Introduction
Understanding Practice
Magnetism postulates that a person can transmit or rebalance a vital force. The word here does not mean the magnetism studied in physics.
Benefits sought
- Wellbeing
- Symbolic support
- Feeling accompanied
- Cultural or family ritual
History and evolution
Franz Anton Mesmer theorizes animal magnetism in the 18th century. Despite the scientific abandonment of this fluid, traditions of healers and firefighters continue.
Practice guidance
- Passes or hands still
- Relationship attention
- Interpretation of bodily feelings
- Treatment ritual
What does a session look like?
The person remains dressed. The practitioner passes hands away or touches slightly, and sometimes describes blockages or feelings.
What we know — and what we don't know
No robust evidence establishes a curative energy transmitted by the practitioner or a specific efficacy against diseases.
Perceived effects may be within the context, attention, expectations or natural evolution, and do not demonstrate the existence of a curative human magnetic fluid.
Precautions and limits
- Never delay urgent treatment, burn, cancer or infection.
- Refuse remote diagnosis and treatment cessation requests.
- Beware of repeated payments to "lift a blockage".
Severe pain, aggravation, unusual symptom or psychological distress require appropriate professional advice. Orabel does not offer any diagnosis or prescription.
Status in France
The title of magnetizer and energy engineer is not regulated as health professions. Untitled diagnosis and medical treatment can be an illegal exercise.
The practitioner should present his/her intervention as a complement to wellbeing or ritual, without taking on a medical role.
