What does a session look like?
The person remains dressed, lying or sitting. The hands are placed slightly or kept at a distance for several minutes per area.
What we know — and what we don't know
Reiki has not clearly demonstrated efficacy for a health purpose and the energy field invoked is not scientifically established.
The available studies are often small, of low quality or inconsistent. No scientific evidence establishes the energy field proposed by the Reiki theory.
Precautions and limits
- The direct risk of mild touch is low, but the main risk is to delay effective care.
- Refuse any energy diagnosis presented as medical.
- Consent to touch must be explicit.
Severe pain, aggravation, unusual symptom or psychological distress require appropriate professional advice. Orabel does not offer any diagnosis or prescription.
Status in France
The title of practitioner or master Reiki is not a regulated health profession.
A soothing experience can be respected without becoming evidence of healing or energy transfer.
