Documented knowledge

History and context

The small church of 1720 was one of the oldest stone churches in Canada. In 1879, an ice bridge on the river allowed the transport of materials expected from the sanctuary. Another episode of 1888, called the prodigy of the eyes, strengthened the pilgrimage. The modern basilica was consecrated in 1964.

Traditions and philosophies

Why is this place spiritual?

The sanctuary is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary and focuses on prayer, walking in the gardens and welcoming. Miraculous stories belong to the believer's memory and must be presented as such.

Location experience

What the landscape makes you feel

The contrast between the small historic church, the modern basilica, the park and the river creates a more landscaped than monumental place.
